COLLARS AND CUFFS

Gotta love those mens shirts huh??? Even the sashing I used in these blocks is made of recycled mens shirts. When I was a newbie,(Ha!!!! Many years ago...mmmmmmmmm) whenever I took apart a shirt, the collars and cuffs would go in the trash (YOWZA!!). Of course, that was a waaaaaayyyyy long time ago. Now the collars and cuffs go in the STRIP bag to be used at a later date. It's so much fun!!! Mens shirts are sturdy and soft and make quite a cozy quilt. Winter is coming and snuggling in a quilt in front of the fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate and cookies....ummmmmm... what could be better? I can smell the chocolate chips now!!!

Stitchery???

Normally I do not do stitchery. Mainly because of my very poor eyesight and the strain being so awful...but Chitter Chatter Designs
http://creativityamongstchaos.blogspot.com/ has the sweetest, cutest stitchery for their free block project this year for a baby quilt and I just had to try and make a go of it. Even though it is taking me FOREVER, I think I'm doing an okay job of it. There are only 4 more blocks left to go in the series but you can buy the whole project or individual blocks for a very small fee if you've missed the first few blocks. Go on over and have a look! I promise you will not be able to resist it even if you aren't into stitchery.

...and a GREAT time was had by all!!!!

Yes we all had a great time at Chayli's party!! Mom, Dad, aunts, uncles, grandmas, grandpa, cousins and lots of friends all joined in the fun. Doesn't Chayli look great in her outfit? All of the paper mache' decorations were made by her and her family. Look at the big saucer she is in in one of the photos! It has a big teacup to go with it!! We danced and ate and laughed and met new people and had lots of fun!! Thank you Chayli for such a fun time. Oh and she did open her present the next day and she loved it. (Yay!!!)

A Graduation Gift

Yes, I decided to post this picture of Chayli's graduation gift only because it's the day before and she will be too busy to be looking at a blog. I almost thought this gift looked too young but it's an Alice In Wonderland party HA!!! Anyway Chayli will always be young at heart no matter how old she is. Here are photos of the back, detail of free form daisys on the border,(I love daisys) and upclose detail of the fun front. I call it CELEBRATION!! Happy Graduation Chayli!!!

Hats for a party!!!

I've been making hats for my niece's graduation party this month (they grow up so fast). Her theme is Alice in Wonderland and it's a tea party, CUTE!!! I won't show her present (just in case she's looking) but the hats are kinda fun. The pink one is especially for her and it is HUGE!!

Ewwwwww!!!!!

I love to go out in the mornings and collect my new cache of lovelies. I love to pick the fresh jonquils and daffodils and then place them throughout the house. Spring! Spring! Spring!

This morning when I was picking flowers this is what greeted me in the yard!!

Snake!!! Ewwww!!! I didn't see it until I was right there with it!! I had my face right there by it (shiver) and talk about ruining the moment. I really didn't know I could still run that fast. I don't care what kind it is they're still scary and yuck! Isn't it ugly?? :-P

Sorry PETA and the people who love snakes, this girl DON'T. Just thought I would share my heart attack moment.

Here's the e-mail I got from my husband after hearing this:

Hey Pumpkinator,
Hope you didn't kill it. It's a king snake. It eats other snakes and rodents. It's good to have this snake around the house. I'm sorry it scared the life out of of you.
Bryan

Isn't he sweet???

Hmmmmmm, I wonder how long it will take for me to forget this and go back into the yard??

Quilter's Block???

I think for the past month I've had quilter's block. Ever have that? Just the thought of sitting at my sewing machine was impossible. Of course, the depression does not help either, but sewing is just the one thing that I love and takes my mind off of things. Even my husband commented on the fact and said, "I know you're really feeling down if you aren't sewing." So in the last few days even feeling sickly (something is going around) I've managed to finish my Old Virginia Calicos topper and even craft these LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH hearts out of some of the scraps and they are now hanging over my double fireplace and they look so cute. Now I just have to quilt and bind the topper, hmmmmm....

Just a quick post to show my Random Ohio Stars project that I am doing by hand. This is the layout so far and hopefully I will be able to get it put together and quilted before next Winter. (He He!)

Another Quilt Out The Door!!!!

Winter is my favorite time to quilt. Mainly because I can lay the quilt across me and admire while I am quilting and not get too hot. This is the Smokey Mountain Stretched Stars from Bonnie's Quiltville that I finished during the summer. I finally got it quilted and it is going to my Sister-in-law, Chante'. I hope she likes it.

Even though I always use recycled shirts and jeans for these projects I have to use the white cotton backing, it's my favorite, it just looks so crisp next to all the plaid!!!

Star cornerstones are my favorite!

Folded, ready to roll and another finish YAY!!!!

2nd Set Of Mystery Blocks!!!

Yes, they are very similar to the first set of blocks but there is no brown and no orange in this set at all. I think I like these best. I will set these together for the original pattern that Bonnie gave and the first set I will set separately on point to make two quilts. I already have 3 sets of borders cut out. I may have to make the ones that I set on point a little larger. When I get them done I will post.

Mystery Blocks Done!!

These are my blocks for the new mystery that Bonnie Hunter at Quiltville.com has on her site. I changed the colors slightly so that I could call it Carolina Autumn since I don't celebrate Christmas but I love the layout and the pattern sooooo much. Bonnie is great to share with us even though she is going to publish this in her next book (can't wait). But once I got to this point I stopped because I wanted to do another set with more color control. Once I get them done I will post. I have them all cut out even down to the border so it shouldn't take me long. I have added a lot of blue and will probably call the next one Carolina Winter. Thanks again for your generosity Bonnie!!!!

And totally off topic it is 1 degree in Fredericktown, Missouri this morning. COOOOOOLLD!
